The extract from An Open Letter to Günter Grass (The New York Sun, August 17, 2006):

Let me first recall a memorable scene in 1970: Willy Brandt falling on his knees at the memorial to the Warsaw Ghetto. It was the most moving and powerful image of German repentance of the whole postwar era. You were there at his side, representing German culture, as the German chancellor went to sign his historic treaty with Poland and made his spontaneous gesture of atonement for the Holocaust.

Afterward, you wrote to thank Brandt effusively for the privilege of "being allowed to be moved." What strikes me now is the artificiality, not only of the language but also the emotion. For how could a man living a lie respond adequately on such an occasion?

You were his friend and ally; you campaigned for him. What would this great German statesman, an émigré who risked his life for the anti-Nazi resistance, have said if he had known about your past and your deceit? Would he have tolerated your presence? He is dead, but we know how a great Polish leader, Lech Walesa, feels about you. He says that Gdansk, your native Danzig, would never have given you the freedom of the city if the Poles had known about your past. Do you not see the damage you have done to Germany's good name?

What makes most Germans feel betrayed is not the fact that you were a member of the Waffen SS, a criminal organization, but that you made the fateful decision not to share with anybody the most important single fact about yourself.

Not with your fellow writers in the Gruppe 47, most of whom were, like you, war veterans, who gave you your first breaks; not with the publishers and the book trade that marketed you as the voice of a new, untainted but angry young generation, and above all not with the reading public, which has remained true to you since you broke onto the literary scene in 1959 with your first novel, "The Tin Drum."

The Morality(21/8/1968-The Aniversary of The Russion, East German, Polish, Hungary, Bulgaria Occupation of our Country)

In this time I was in the Army as a university student embodied for training. Maybe in the next anniversary I put some pic from this event, now it is not in my computer, of course when I will be on this earth yet. This occupation destroyed my next life career, because after a few years the majority of people has colaborated with new Russion regime, it was terrible for me to live with this morality around yourself. Your friends, your co-worker, your family, simply has been said 99,9% voted this regime, or else in not democratic elections, but they had not to vote. I wanted emigrate, all my material I have exported thru my friend to Dortmund in Germany, but I stayed finally at home. But I was also - disapointed that nobody from the West countries did not help us, like with the German occupation in 1939. And now with the morality? It is similar. Most people colaborate with democracy without morality . And some young people even dont know what happened in the year 17/11/1989 in so called The Velvet Revolution. Maybe it is good, there was no revolution only delivery of the power to some dissidents groups like as in all post-communist countries, like in Iraq. C'est la vie. P.S. Real the Revolution is another one.

My first Description of my Blog was in Czech, now the translation in English

It is not for nothing that totalitarian regimes strive to get control of man's soul, too. Ideological totalitarianism was replaced by that of consumption. I have not found an answer yet to the intentional boycott of TV Nova, the most popular mass medium in our country, which never reported about the election of the new Pope. This media massage is ridiculous and sad at the same time. The eternal truth says that one should pay the Emperor what belongs to the Emperor, and pay God what belongs to God. But any of the parties must not appropriate both sides of the coin.


Ne nadarmo se totalitní režimy snáží ovládnout i duši člověka. Ideologickou totalitu nahradila totalita konzumu. Doposud
jsem nenašel odpověď na záměrný bojkot nejsledovanějšího média u nás TV Nova, která nikdy nepodala informaci o zvolení
nového papeže. Je to až směšné i smutné, tato mediální masáž. Co je císařovo dávejte císaři a co je boží Bohu, je věčná
pravda. Ale nesmí ani jedna ani druhá strana, si přivlastnit obě strany mince.

Jsem zvědav jak to tam dopadne, v Polsku zveřejnili agenta polských tajných služeb ve Vatikánu, který sloužil komunistům. My tu atmosféru máme už za sebou a oni teprve začínají, takže se neobyčejně vzrušují různými odhaleními. Mají úřad Institut národní paměti, který zveřejnil řádového kněze otce Hejmo, žijícího ve Vatikánu, jenž měl na starosti poutníky, které organizoval na papežské audience. Vtip je v tom, že výrok byl zveřejněn ale fakta budou zveřejněna až za 2-3 týdny, takže je spousta komentářů a spekulací a samozřejmě i obhajoba dotyčného agenta, který spolupráci nepodepsal ale věděl, že poskytuje informace antikomunistické tajné službě BND tehdejší NSR. A také dostal dvacetkrát honorář nepřímo přes jiné kněze jako pomoc pro studenta na studiích. Tehdy jako student měl pracovat ve vatikánském rozhlase, který ale řídí jezuité a jako dominikána ho nepřijali. Pak dostal od episkopátu za úkol sbírat veškeré informace z médií o církvi. Jeho řídící důstojník nedávno zemřel a nechce uvést jeho jméno aby nepoškodil jeho rodinu. Tento důstojník si nahrával pravidelně před ním jeho rozhovory. Představil se pod legendou polského emigranta žijícího v Kolíně, který materiály dodává německému episkopátu. Tento Polák ale byl důstojníkem komunistických polských tajných služeb. Druhá ale věc je, že v polovině sedmdesátých let, bez honoráře, sloužil tajným službám, je otázkou, zda vědomě. Na každého bohoslovce i kněze byli nasazeni špiclové. Takže všechno je doposud otázka spekulací, fakta nebyla předložena. Je jenom otázkou, proč zrovna teď krátce po smrti JP II se rozpoutala tato kampaň, kdy Poláci byli neuvěřitelně sjednoceni v žalu i v solidaritě, zejména mladí lidé.
